This is a one-hour weekly Math Literacy class that strengthens math skills. Our group will practice recall, strategy, and application. Math can be fun! We enhance the math literacy experience by leveraging:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Games<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Math &#8220;tricks&#8221; <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Real-world application (cooking, building, estimating)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Desmo online calculator skills<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This multi-graded cohort and pressure-free environment will encourage even hesitant math learners to engage with mathematics in a new way while building skills. Our sequence will target four main activities:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Concrete: using physical objects and manipulatives<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Representational: creating drawings and symbols<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Abstract: using numbers and operators<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Retell: peer-supported collaboration and debriefing<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This program is intended to gamify math concepts to make math fun.
